To the members and followers of the St. Augustine Jazz Society,
I would like to thank you all for your continued support of the SAJS. Our May, June, and July jams have been great fun and felt just like old times before the pandemic. This new Delta variant has one again raised the caution flag. Since the Delta variant can even affect those who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the SAJS board members have decided to cancel the August jam. We feel that this is in the best interest of our members and that we are doing our part to keep everyone safe. Our hope is that this step will prevent any further spread of the Delta variant within our SAJS family and increase the likelihood of a September jam. For your convenience, we have included more information about COVID-19 and prevention at the bottom of this announcement. We strongly recommend that you make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine if you have not already. The vaccines are safe and effective at preventing truly extreme symptoms, hospitalization, and death. We also urge everyone, regardless of your vaccination status, to continue to wear a face mask in all public settings. Continue to wash your hands and of course, get tested and practice isolation if you begin to feel symptoms. The UNF Jazz Ensemble III has confirmed that they will be happy to perform at a hopeful September jam. Dr. Marc Dickman, the director, will be bringing an 18-piece jazz ensemble and it will be a fantastic show that you won't want to miss. Let's all do our part so we can get back together again. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks and stay safe! Kind Regards, Joe Robertson SAJS President |
